The Devon Country Inn at the very heart of Chagford

Welcome to The Globe

“The Globe Inn is one of those perfect places that every traveller hopes to discover. A comfortable, characterful old inn with friendly staff, lovely rooms, terrific food, and a great bar with interesting local people”

Sunday Lunch Photo

Popular with locals and visitors alike, we pride ourselves on serving quality, home-cooked and locally-sourced food, often described as some of the best in the town. We offer an extensive vegetarian menu.

Choose between two bars, two log fires and a great range of local real ales and ciders along with artisan gins and more malt whiskies than you can shake a stick at!  Hosted by our fabulous bar staff, join our welcoming locals and share in the warmth and atmosphere for which The Globe is so rightly famous.

Built in 1833 on the site of an earlier Inn, the Globe sits peacefully opposite the churchyard of St. Michael the Archangel at the centre of Chagford

A bustling little town during the day, Chagford is laid back and peaceful in the evenings so the rooms at the front of the Inn, with their wonderful views, are much in demand.

Top Class Dining

“All I can say is wow! When eating a meal, I normally leave my favourite bit till last but that was impossible because there was no (single) favourite. If you want a Michelin starred dining experience at Gastro pub prices, this is definitely the place to go.”

Friendly Bars

“Amazing find, such a welcoming pub with fantastic food. Huge portion of fish and chips, really welcoming staff. Very attentive service, made our two dogs very welcome with biscuits and water. We sat in the bar area which was really comfy.”

Perfect for Dartmoor

“”Quaint and Quirky, but very comfortable. Old, with loads of character. The staff are welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and able to advise on places of interest.
No need to eat anywhere else and the food was delicious and plentiful.”

“Food!!”

“(The Globe) is without doubt the best meal in Chagford for my meat eating friends and an excellent vegan meal too!

I ordered vegan mushroom and spinach pie. I honestly didn’t expect a lot but it was amazing, clearly homemade with delicious puff pastry and super crispy and “proper” thrice cooked chips! Presentation was upper end of any pub food I’ve had.

Service was perfect and my dog was accommodated too.”

“Easily best place  in Chagford

“I have now stayed at The Globe six or seven times, and keep coming back for a number of reasons. First, I really appreciate good food, and this little family run pub punches way above its weight in that department! This is home cooked pub food at its very best… superb… and far better than its more flashy neighbours (I have tried them too).

Second, everyone who works there is great at what they do, and provides a genuine welcome and great service.”

“The Globe – a World of Delight!”

“I can only echo what so many others have already stated – The Globe in Chagford, Devon, is a truly outstanding place to stay and eat!

This is a charming pub/ hotel with fine dining in a relaxed, friendly pub atmosphere.
The food deserves a mention as it is of a very high quality and beautifully presented. No need to look elsewhere to eat… delicious and reasonably priced.
A perfect romantic Dartmoor retreat.

Great hotel with fab food

“Stayed here for 2 nights. Shown to our room which was lovely overlooking the old church. Bed very comfortable and everything in the room that you would need for an enjoyable stay. Our first evening we dined in, and both had the steak and ale pie. It was scrummy and presented really nicely. Second night we had the chicken and chorizo, yet again a very tasty well- presented meal. Top marks to the chef ?. Breakfast was fab.
